14TH ANNUAL SUMMIT ON HOMELESSNESS AND HOUSING KICKS OFF APRIL 15TH IN PITTSBURG
–Presented by the Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition and SEK-CAP, the two-day event offers effective strategies for providing homeless outreach and fair housing–
|PITTSBURG, KS – SEK-CAP, Inc. and the Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition will host the 14th Annual Summit on Homelessness and Housing, which will take place at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium on April 15th-17th, 2013.
The event begins with a Networking Reception on April 15th at 5pm, which provides an opportunity for community members, law enforcement, homeless service providers, educators, faith-based organizations, and mental health agencies to build working relationships in order to better serve the homeless population. Presenters will travel to Pittsburg from Kansas, Colorado, and Texas.
Tuesday, April 16th will provide a full day of breakout sessions, including educational opportunities on the following topics: Homeless Programs 101, Homelessness: What Does Gambling Have to do With It?, Poverty Simulation, McKinney-Vento Overview, Evidence Based Practices, and Beautiful Feet Ministries.
On the evening of April 16th, a Progressive Dinner will allow attendees to experience Southeast Kansas’ famous fried chicken, local musicians, Pittsburg State University’s Gus the Gorilla, and a tour of downtown Pittsburg.
On Wednesday, April 17th, the experience continues through the morning, where participants may attend breakout sessions on the following topics: Fair Housing, HUD Technical Assistance, Caring for Kids, and Kansas Department of Corrections.
