The 2019 Mid-winter Forum held in at Dodge City American Legion Post 47 February 1 – 3, 2019 was hugely successful. “The Legionnaires present were able to learn more about The American Legion, its programs and the direction each program is expected to take,” Department Commander Dan Wiley said. “Additionally, the Forum provided information about how and why The American Legion functions in the manner it does.”
The American Legion and S.A.L had individual meeting at the post home and the Auxiliary had its meetings in the Conference Room at the Dodge House Hotel.Legion dignitaries present included the Leading Candidate for National Commander Bill Oxford, National Media and Communication Director Jeff Stoffer, Auxiliary National President Kathy Dungan, and S.A.L. National Vice Commander Peter Sierminski.
Organizers reported there were 100 American Legion members present, 70 Legion Auxiliary members present, and 20 Sons of American Legion members in attendance. Friday evening’s event featured a Roses for Rosies Ceremony. Saturday evening, Legion family members enjoyed a Prime Rib Dinner and a performance from the “Letters from Home” performers. Department Chaplain Glenn Patterson conducted a Four Chaplains Memorial Service Sunday morning.
Dodge City Post 47 Commander Don Marshall was very pleased. “There were many people and organizations that helped make this event successful,” Marshall said. “I especially appreciated the support the Dodge City Convention & Visitors Bureau gave me. Bureau personnel provided welcome materials and furnished a trolley to transport Auxiliary members to and from Post 47.”
