College Choir Open to Community, Children

bluebeaverhighrez (2)Each year, Pratt Community College’s vocal department invites community members and children to join the schools choir. “Each year we have a lot of fun with the community,” said J.J. Rupe, director of the PCC and community choir. “I would like to see everyone return from last semester and new faces as well.” The kids’ choir meet every Monday from 4-5 p.m. The group is for boys and girls between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade who enjoy singing and performing. The choir is directed by Misty Beck who is assisted by students from the PCC Performing Arts Department. Community choir is for anyone in the community older than fifth grade and will meet Monday at 6 p.m.

Both groups will start meeting Sept. 14 and will meet in room 42 in the Benson Education Center. The groups will perform in ‘A Night on Broadway’, the Christmas show in the fall and in several shows in the spring. There is no fee to be in either choir, however, the ensemble asks that those in the choir make a commitment to the group and do their very best to attend all practices and performances.

For more information about either group, contact Beck at [email protected]

Inviting the community to join the choir is just one of the ways that PCC celebrates being part of the Pratt community. Our mission is maximum student learning, individual and workforce development, high quality instruction and service, and community enrichment. Each year, the members of the PCC family contribute more than 13,000 hours in community service and engagement to South Central Kansas. Our middle name is community.
