REPRESENTATIVE LEWIS STATEMENT ON HOUSE TAX VOTE
Topeka: The Kansas House early this morning passed the largest tax increase in Kansas history that still requires budget cuts. It will lead to increased sales and property tax, caps local governments and sends public tax dollars to private schools instead of public schools.
Representative Greg Lewis (R-St. John) said, “Kansans who wanted real revenue reform lost today. Big corporate special interests won out at the expense of my constituents and hard-working Kansans – and important priorities like schools will still face further budget cuts. The sun is not shining in our state.”
