The annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale has ended, but there’s one last chance to score a package of the most popular Girl Scout Cookie. The fourth-annual Thin Mint Sprint 5K Run/Walk & Cookie Relay on Saturday, April 22 in Wichita supports Girl Scouts in 80 Kansas counties, and everyone who participates in the 5K gets a commemorative T-shirt plus a package of Thin Mints.
All ages and abilities are invited to this unique event that benefits Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland and is fun for the whole family. The Thin Mint Sprint 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at the council’s headquarters, 360 Lexington Road, just north of Kellogg and Edgemoor in Wichita. The top three males and females in each age category for the 5K will receive medals at 9:30 a.m. The Cookie Relay – a 600-yard course complete with “Minute to Win It”-style cookie obstacles – starts at 10 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to the three relay teams that can stack cookies, toss cookies, and yes, even eat cookies, the fastest.
Adults and the public can register at kansasgirlscouts.org/thinmintsprint for $35 through April 21 or $40 on race day. Girl Scout girl members can register for the 5K for just $15. The Cookie Relay is only $20 for a team of four. Post-race refreshments will be available (cookies included), along with additional activities in the Family Fun Zone. All proceeds go toward continuing the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
